Small-Sensor Display Agreement
How consistently do side-by-side consumer temperature and relative-humidity displays settle into the same displayed interval?
Study overview
What the study involves.
This completed study tested a simple way to compare how ordinary temperature and humidity displays settle and round their readings when placed side by side. The public summary describes the method only; it does not certify or rank any device.
What you’ll do
- Place selected consumer displays together on one stable indoor surface and allow an assigned settling interval.
- Record displayed whole-unit or fixed-decimal values at scheduled points without adjusting the devices.
- Classify agreement, rounding difference, and apparent stabilization using fixed response categories.
Who can take part
- The closed protocol used ordinary consumer temperature and relative-humidity displays.
- Displays remained side by side on a stable indoor surface for each observation interval.
- Only displayed values and stabilization categories were within scope.
Not part of this study
- The protocol excluded medical, industrial-control, safety-critical, and permanently installed building instruments.
- No brands, serial numbers, purchase records, exact locations, photographs, or remote device connections were included.
Study steps
How the study works.
Please follow the steps in order. If you miss an observation, leave it blank rather than trying to recreate it later.
Arrange
Place the displays together on a stable surface away from direct heating or cooling.
Settle
Leave the arrangement unchanged for the assigned stabilization interval.
Read
Record displayed values in the same device order at each scheduled point.
Classify
Apply fixed agreement and rounding categories without assigning device accuracy.
Information used
What we ask for.
We ask only for the broad categories and observations listed below.
What we ask you to record
- Broad display category and available measurement channels.
- Displayed values at assigned observation points.
- Fixed-category stabilization and agreement observations.
- Confirmation that the device arrangement remained unchanged.
What we don’t ask for
- Brand, model, serial number, purchase record, account, or network information.
- Exact location, photographs, room identity, or information about occupants.
- Medical, safety-critical, or product-certification interpretation.
Sample questions
Examples of what you’ll be asked.
- 01
Did each display remain unchanged during the final observation interval?
- 02
Do the displayed values occupy the same categorical agreement band?
- 03
Was the device arrangement disturbed after the settling interval began?
Method notes
Why the method is structured this way.
- The method compared displayed agreement and stabilization behavior, not traceable measurement accuracy.
- Device identity was replaced by a temporary observation label and was not part of the public method summary.
- Fixed categories were selected before the comparison interval and applied in the same order.
Limitations
What the results cannot show.
- Consumer displays can use different internal sensors, update intervals, rounding rules, and ventilation arrangements.
- Side-by-side placement reduces some environmental variation but does not create a calibrated reference condition.
- The protocol cannot support a product ranking, compliance claim, or accuracy certification.
Study summary
What this study established.
The study showed that side-by-side consumer displays can be compared consistently using fixed categories for settling time and agreement. It did not assess accuracy, rank products, or certify individual devices.
